Alaniz-Barrera Counseling Services

Dr. Matilde B. Alaniz, LPC-S, RPT-S, CSC, NCC, CART, EMDR Trained Dr. Alaniz obtained her Doctoral Degree of Philosophy in Rehabilitation Counseling at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in Edinburg, Texas. ​ Dr. Alaniz obtained her Mater's Degree in Counseling and Guidance at The University of Texas Pan American in Edinburg, Texas where she also became a Certified School Counselor. Dr. Alaniz furthered her education by obtaining a License as Professional Counselor and a Supervisor Certificate. She is also a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor, Certified School Counselor, and National Certified Counselor. In addition she is a Certified Anger Resolution Therapist. And recently obtained her training in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing therapy. Dr. Alaniz has 26 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and teenagers in the school setting. She has also been practicing at Alaniz-Barrera Counseling Services for 14 years where she has gained experience with adults and couples. Dr. Alaniz has been adjunct faculty at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley since 2014. ​
